Finnish guitarist Tolonen's first major band of note in the seventies was Tasavallan Presidentti, with whom he recorded three albums between 1969 and 1974. He released his first solo album in 1973 and continued to record albums of a consistently high standard well into the nineties. He also worked with fellow guitarist Coste Apetrea and had a short stint with Wigwam. Later years saw him appear with Little Eden, Oreo Moon, Bill's Boogie Band, Piirpauke and others, but it's definitely his solo material that he's best known for. Essentially a jazz/fusion guitarist, he can also rock with the best of them. He's also an extremely competent blues player. This trio that he's put together features Hasse Larsson on bass and Kjell Gustavson on drums and lead vocals. A second trio album, called "Big Time", was released in 1996. If you'd like to hear/know more about this ridiculously talented guitarist, then you should check out the double "Jukka Tolonen On the Rocky Road - A Retrospective", which came out on Love Records in 2000.
